Privacy policy
Last updated: 8 October 2026. This policy covers the JackKey Android app (com.easelynow.jackkey) and this website, published by Easelynow.
The short version
JackKey collects no personal data. It has no account, no analytics, no ads and no server. Your settings stay on your phone.
What the app accesses, and why
- Accessibility Service (button access). JackKey uses Android’s Accessibility Service for one thing: to see when you press a button on your wired earphones (centre, volume up, volume down), so it can run the action you chose. It never reads what is on your screen, never types or taps for you, and nothing leaves your phone. Volume buttons on the phone itself are left alone.
- Notification access (media control, optional). To control the music app you are using (Spotify, YouTube Music and others) JackKey needs Notification access. Android only shares the “now playing” controls with apps that have it. If you use “Read last notification”, the latest notification is read aloud once and kept in memory only. Nothing is stored or sent anywhere.
- Installed apps you can launch. Read on your phone only, to let you pick an app for “Open app” or “Play preferred player”.
- Foreground service and notifications (pocket mode, optional). A notification shows while pocket mode runs.
What is stored
Your button settings, the Pro status and a short activity log (the last 50 button presses, for troubleshooting) are stored only in the app’s private storage on your phone. They are excluded from Android backups and are never transmitted.
Purchases
The optional Pro upgrade is sold through Google Play. Google processes the payment under the Google Play terms and privacy policy; JackKey only receives the purchase confirmation needed to unlock Pro. We never see your payment details.
Sharing
We share no data with anyone, because we collect none. The website has no cookies and no tracking.
Children
The app is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
Your choices
You can turn off button access, media control or pocket mode at any time in Android settings. To delete everything, see Delete your data.
